Research notes

The Cure, also called Plague or SCP-049 by players, uses Pestilence, injections, and roaming SCP-049-2 to sustain pressure. The community wiki lists 15,000 Screws and associates the killer with Site 68. The official trailer was published on 12 May 2026; the wiki patch log dates the playable addition to 16 May 2026. A trailer publication date is not the gameplay release date.

Kit

Lunge listed as 27 studs/s for 0.6s. Tied to Site 68.

The wiki associates these personal perks with this killer: Foundation Staff / Sustenance / Desire For The Living. Exact unlock levels and cross-killer availability were not confirmed in the cited text; check the current in-game menu before planning a purchase.

Infection, injection, and zombie loop

Elucidation charges and throws a flask, leaving a cloud that applies Pestilence and slows survivors by up to 35%. Its cooldown is 15 seconds. Each infected survivor adds 5% break and vault speed; Pestilence expires automatically after 90 seconds. The 24 October patch adds the brief exit slowdown.

I Am The Cure injects downed survivors or corpses. A living survivor can be injected once per spike stage: before their first spike, the injection applies 4% movement slowness; after one spike, it applies a 6% repair penalty. The wiki notes that these injection penalties are removed when the survivor is downed again. Its mini-mori requires two prior injections and the death-hook stage, not merely any injured target.

The 24 October note grants one starting I Am The Cure token and a 4.5% speed boost for 20 seconds after injecting a downed survivor or reviving a zombie. The skill text separately says the first spike earns a corpse-conversion charge, with further charges requiring two spikes. Starting zombies depend on survivor count: none for 1-3, one for 4, two for 5. The normal cap is four zombies; converted survivors can exceed it.

SCP-049-2 roam, apply Pestilence to uninfected targets, and damage already infected targets. They prioritize The Cure's chased survivor within 100 studs, and their auras remain visible to the killer. The page disagrees on infected-target chase speed: the skill body says 13 studs per second, while the 25 May patch says 12. Do not treat either as a freshly tested current value.

  • Suggested loop: throw a flask across a committed route, then use the infection HUD to choose a target and exploit faster vaults or pallet breaks.
  • Down and inject an eligible survivor, then spike them to advance charge generation. Use available charges on corpses to maintain roaming pressure.
  • Use the injection or revival speed window to resume a chase. Only attempt the mini-mori after its injection and spike-stage conditions are met.

Build notes

Suggested loadout: Foundation Staff + Sustenance + Exposure Therapy, subject to your available perks. Foundation Staff slows healing by rescuers and penalizes the rescued survivor's repairs until healed. Spiking earns Sustenance tokens; breaking a pallet spends one to slow and Silence survivors inside your terror radius. Exposure Therapy turns completed teammate healing inside that radius into Vulnerable, with damage tokens extending it and revealing auras. Infect an area, earn a spike, then spend a Sustenance token on a useful pallet break. If tracking is the bottleneck, replace Exposure Therapy with Desire For The Living to return survivor aura reveals. These are editorial synergies, not tested win-rate rankings; check the in-game unlock requirements.

How survivors answer it

Leave a flask cloud rather than repeatedly crossing it: infected survivors strengthen the killer's break and vault speed, and SCP-049-2 attacks damage targets already carrying Pestilence. The 24 October note says killing a zombie also infects the survivor and alerts The Cure, so destroying one is not a free reset. The wiki says certain stuns can kill SCP-049-2, but does not provide a complete stun list or an HP value. A cloud also leaves 7% slowness for 2 seconds after exit; plan the next obstacle before leaving it.
