Mark, Leap, and a practical chase loop

Mark winds up, lunges forward with a narrow hitbox, and marks a hit survivor for 10 seconds. The 24 October patch sets maximum range to 41 studs, windup to 0.8 seconds, windup movement to 9 studs per second, and endlag to 1.8 seconds. Downed survivors cannot be marked; hitting scenery does not remove the recovery.

Leap launches in the direction you look and can cross obstacles. The 24 October notes say contact with a window hitbox forces a 25% faster vault, breaking a pallet puts Leap on a 4-second cooldown, and actions are forbidden during its endlag. Do not treat the pallet-break cooldown as its universal base cooldown.

• Suggested loop: use an aura reveal or visual sighting to line up Mark; avoid spending a narrow lunge on a target already turning a corner.
• After a successful mark, use Leap to cross an obstacle or reach a useful landing. Wait for recovery before attempting another action.
• After a down, use Next in Line for your next destination, or kick a nearby generator if using Echo Location.

Build notes

Suggested loadout: Enhanced Senses + Next in Line + Murderous Acrobatics, if available. Enhanced Senses reveals survivors performing rushed actions, giving you information before aiming Mark or choosing a Leap landing. Next in Line reveals the farthest survivor after a down, helping you choose the next patrol. Murderous Acrobatics periodically speeds a window vault during chase and adds brief haste; it is a window-vault effect, not a guaranteed bonus on every Leap. Replace Next in Line with Echo Location if you regularly damage generators and want nearby rather than distant tracking. These are editorial starting choices; check current unlock requirements.

How survivors answer it

Do not rely on the normal long-distance heartbeat warning: the base radius is only 45 studs, but it does not vanish simply because The Hidden stands still. Change direction during Mark's windup rather than running down its narrow line. The current patch gives Mark 1.8 seconds of endlag, so a missed lunge creates a repositioning window. Leap can cross pallets and trigger a faster window vault; watch the landing rather than assuming a dropped pallet ends the chase. The killer cannot act during Leap recovery.

Documented outfits
